SHTA seeking new board members

March 27, 2023
The Superior Hiking Trail Association Board is seeking new volunteer Board members to replace those whose terms are expiring in June 2023.

The board is specifically looking for board members with Finance/Accounting backgrounds.

The Board serves as the governing body of the Association and works closely with the Executive Director to accomplish our ambitious strategic goals. The Board meets in-person four times annually, and each board member serves on at least one committee. Typically, committees meet once in between each full board meeting. Occasionally, we plan a non-working get-together to enjoy our friendships and shared love for the Trail.

SHTA Board of Directors, 2022, with Executive Director Lisa Luokkala.

We are always interested in recruiting avid SHT users, including day hikers, trail runners or backpackers and we are equally excited to invite those who are passionate about moving the organization towards its equity and inclusion goals. This year we are especially looking for expertise in finance and/or accounting. Candidates with diverse backgrounds, identities, and professional experiences are encouraged to apply to ensure a broad range of skills, perspectives, and voices are represented on the SHTA Board.

If interested, we ask that you introduce yourself by sending a letter to the SHTA Governance Committee, no later than April 14, 2023 at the two email addresses below.

Please include the following information:

  • Share your interest in joining the Board.
  • The talents, skills, and interests you would bring to the Board.
  • What experiences you hope to gain by serving on the Board.
  • Any other information you’d like to share.

Please send your letter and any questions to Executive Director Lisa Luokkala at [email protected] AND to Board Vice-Chair Karen Ketchmark at [email protected] to apply.

We look forward to hearing from you!
