Committed Board Members Wanted!

SHTA seeks new volunteer board members to replace those whose terms end June 2024. 

The Superior Hiking Trail Association is eager to recruit avid SHT users, including day hikers, trail runners or backpackers and we are equally excited to invite those who are passionate about moving the organization toward its equity and inclusion goals. Candidates with diverse backgrounds, identities, and professional experiences are encouraged to apply to ensure a broad range of skills, perspectives, and voices are represented on the SHTA Board of Directors. Candidates with a background in fund development or land management are a plus.

The Board serves as the governing body of the Association and works closely with the Executive Director to accomplish our ambitious strategic goals. The Board meets in-person four times annually, and each board member serves on at least one committee. Typically, committees meet once in between each full board meeting. 

Board members are invited to participate in a few organization-wide events such as the annual volunteer appreciation parties and fundraising and ribbon-cutting events.  Occasionally, we plan a non-working get-together to enjoy our friendships and shared love for the Trail. These activities are not mandatory, but are a great way for board members to stay in touch with the pulse of the trail community. 

If interested, we ask that you introduce yourself by sending a letter to the SHTA Governance Committee no later than April 21, 2024 at the two email addresses below.

  • Share your interest in joining the Board.
  • The talents, skills, and interests you would bring to the Board. 
  • What experiences you hope to gain by serving on the Board.
  • Any other information you’d like to share.
