Family-friendly Hike to the Zoo – Highland Street to Kingsbury Creek, 3.2 miles

Here’s a hike for the whole family: bring the kiddos out for an easy-going, 3.2-mile and mostly downhill hike on the SHT in the city of Duluth. Meander through the woods, cross several creeks, and enjoy a few panoramic views of the aerial bridge and St. Louis River valley as you venture towards the Kingsbury Creek trailhead at the Lake Superior Zoo. Bonus: At the end of the hike, you’ll receive half-off admission to the Zoo to enjoy a wonderful afternoon of exotic sights with your family. Meet at Kingsbury Creek Trailhead.

Directions to Kingsbury Creek Trailhead: From the south: take I-35 Cody St. Exit #251A and continue on Cody St. for 0.3 miles. Turn right on N. 63rd Ave. W. and go 0.6 miles. Turn right on Grand Ave. and go 0.7 miles. Turn right on Waseca St. (between 69th Ave. W. and 72nd Ave. W.) and go 0.2 miles to end of street to trailhead parking lot. From the North: Take I-35 Grand Ave./Hwy. 23 Exit #251B and go right 0.8 miles on Grand Ave. to Waseca St. Turn right on Waseca St. and go 0.2 miles to end of street to trailhead parking lot.
