Superior Hero Tale: Castle Danger Brewery
Just a few blocks away from SHTA World Headquarters in Two Harbors, the Castle Danger Brewery taproom serves up some of the finest brews in the state. We often hear from SHT hikers that a stop at the brewery for a pint and growler to-go is a part of their tradition every time they visit the North Shore. It has also become one of the go-to destinations for our staff celebrations and after-hours meetings, often paired with a pizza from Do North Pizzeria.
We’re not the only ones who really dig Castle Danger’s offerings. They recently repeated as champions of the Star Tribune’s Ultimate Beer Bracket Challenge, staking their claim as Minnesota’s most popular brewery for the second straight year.
As they draw beer aficionados to the North Shore, CDB continues to invest time and money back into our community, and their team has repeatedly stepped up to support the Trail and Association. Volunteers from CDB have joined several trail improvement projects and actively maintain the Crow Valley campsite. Last August, they also invited SHTA to join their anniversary party festivities and hosted a raffle that raised nearly $700 to benefit the Trail.
That’s not all: for the past two years, CDB has generously chosen to donate a portion of proceeds from their dangerously good fall ferment, the Maple Märzen, to support the SHT. In total, the Brewery has now invested over $5,000 to support Trail Renewal projects and our volunteers.
We are truly grateful to have the financial and volunteer support of our neighbors. Next time you’re in Two Harbors, we encourage you to hike the unofficial SHT spur trail from our office to their taproom and enjoy a beer from the North Shore, for the North Shore.
