POSTPONED: Volunteer — Kimball Creek Bridge Rehabilitation

May 7, 2020 @ 8:00 am - May 8, 2020 @ 5:00 pm

Due to the evolving health concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic, SHTA has decided to indefinitely postpone the Kimball Creek Bridge rehabilitation project planned for May 7-8.

We’ve made this decision out of an abundance of caution to protect our collective health and prevent the spread of the virus. We will work on a new plan for re-decking the bridge, and we will share opportunities for you to get involved through our Volunteer Portal.

We are grateful to have dedicated volunteers like you in our community, and we will continue to follow the guidance of public health officials to ensure that all of our activities are safe and enjoyable for all. Thank you for your understanding.

You can find COVID-19 updates from SHTA and helpful resources from partners on our website at superiorhiking.org/covid-19

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Tamer Ibrahim at [email protected]

Join Volunteer Crew Leader Michael Loscheider on May 7 and 8 on a project to re-deck the Kimball Creek bridge, one of the most scenic places on the Superior Hiking Trail. Volunteers will be hauling materials in via a short but very steep trail, removing the bridge decking, and replacing it with new lumber.

We need around 8 volunteers each day. Volunteers can come for one or both days. Group camping will be available in Grand Marais the nights of May 6, 7, and 8th.

Registration will open soon.

Please contact Tamer Ibrahim at [email protected] with any questions about this volunteer project.
