Guided Hike – Wild Valley Rd to MN/WI Border
May 11, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Wild Valley Road to MN/WI Border, 3.8 miles
Saturday, May 11 at 10am
Hiking is a mother-tested, mother-approved activity – so bring your mom out to start off hiking season with a trek to the start (or is that the end?) of the SHT on Mother’s Day weekend! Join hike leader and longtime SHTA volunteer Steve Coz for this 3.8-mile out-and-back hike to our Trail’s southern terminus. Descend into the Red River Valley, cross the recently-built bridge over the Red River, and climb back out of the valley to our Trail’s terminus, where it meets with the proposed route of the North Country National Scenic Trail at the Wisconsin/Minnesota border. Your mom will love this hike! Meet at Wild Valley Road Trailhead. Note: the Wild Valley Road Trailhead may be closed due to poor road conditions in spring. If so, we’ll announce a different meeting location through our Facebook page (@suphike).
Directions to Wild Valley Road Trailhead: From the south: take I-35 Carlton Exit #235 and go east on Hwy. 210 for 2.4 miles to Carlton. Turn right (south) on Carlton Co.
