Grand Portage Trailhead to Beck’s Road, 6.3 miles

Join hike leader Steve Coz to celebrate the end of our hiking season with our final Fall Colors hike: a 6.3-mile up-and-down adventure through the Mission Creek area. This section includes beautiful hardwood forests, the historic stone bridge over the creek, and a stretch of the SHT that has finally been restored and renewed after the 2012 floods that decimated the area. Celebrate the end of the hiking season with this scenic Fall Color voyage on the SHT! Meet at Beck’s Road Trailhead.

Note: You are required to have a MN state park parking pass if you decide to park at Grand Portage Trailhead. Please plan to arrive early if you need to purchase a pass. You can also purchase an annual pass at any MN state park.

Directions to Beck’s Road Trailhead: From the South: on I-35, take Midway Rd. Exit #246. Go south 4.5 miles on Midway Rd./Beck’s Rd. to Grand Ave./Commonwealth Ave./Hwy. 23. Turn right (south) and follow Hwy. 23 for 3.8 miles to 131st Ave. W. on right. Turn right on 131st Ave. W. and go 0.4 miles passing gate into trailhead parking lot by kiosk. From the North: Take Hwy. 23/Grand Ave. Exit #251B and drive 8.7 miles to Fond du Lac. Turn right on 131st Ave. W. and go 0.4 miles passing gate into trailhead parking lot by kiosk.
