Seeking Candidates for the SHTA Board

February 25, 2022

The Superior Hiking Trail Association Board is seeking new volunteer Board members to replace those whose terms are expiring in June 2022.

The Board serves as the governing body of the Association and works closely with the Executive Director to accomplish our ambitious strategic goals. The Board meets in-person (when it’s safe to do so) four times annually, and each board member serves on at least one committee. Typically, committees meet once in between each full board meeting. Occasionally, we plan a non-working get-together to enjoy our friendships and shared love for the Trail.

We are always interested in recruiting avid SHT users, including day hikers, trail runners or backpackers and we are equally excited to invite those who are passionate about moving the organization towards its equity and inclusion goals. This year we are especially looking for expertise in technology, real estate, and DEI work. Candidates with diverse backgrounds and professional experiences are encouraged to apply to ensure a broad range of skills, perspectives, and voices are represented on the SHTA Board.

If interested, we ask that you introduce yourself by sending a letter to the SHTA Governance Committee, no later than April 15, 2022 to the two email addresses below.

Please include the following information:

  • Why are you interested in joining the Board.
  • How you would add value to the Board.
  • The talents, skills, and interests you would bring to the Board.
  • What you expect to get from serving on the Board.
  • Any other information you’d like to share.

Please send your letter and any questions to executive director Lisa Luokkala ([email protected]) AND to Board Vice-Chair Karen Ketchmark ([email protected]) to apply.

We look forward to hearing from you!
