Hike 100 Miles in 2016!
To celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the National Park Service in 2016, the North country Trail Association is sponsoring a “Hike 100 Challenge” on the North Country National Scenic Trail (NCT). Those who hike 100 miles on the NCT over the course of 2016 will receive a special patch and certificate to commemorate their achievement. The Superior Hiking Trail is slated to become an official part of the North Country Trail, so miles hiked on the SHT in 2016 absolutely count toward the Hike 100 Challenge!
To complete the challenge, miles may be hiked at any time throughout the year. They do not have to be unique miles – you could hike the same mile of the Superior Hiking Trail one hundred times. But with 775 miles of the North Country Trail in Minnesota (including the 310 mile Superior Hiking Trail) and 4,600 miles overall, there’s lots to choose from! Those who sign up for the challenge are eligible for prizes and free resources in addition to the patch and certificate you can earn.
