SUMMARY:Guided Hike: Kadunce River
DESCRIPTION:This 3 mile hike is an introduction to a spectacular river that is one of the more than two dozen rivers that fill the souls (and water bottles) of hikers on the SHT. Guides will share insights about river geology\, micro climates\, plants and animals\, and interactions of the river and the big lake. Hikers will also learn about the challenges and rewards of maintaining the trail at its many water crossings. This hike starts with a .7 mile climb but the ascent is largely gradual with good footing. Guides will turn around at approximately 1.5 miles. Hikers may opt to return to the trailhead with the guides or they may continue further on the trail on their own if they wish. \nRegister here.

The crew will repair tread on the Cascade Loop that is too far to efficiently reach in a day trip. SUMMARY:Guided Hike: Section 13 to Finland Community Center
DESCRIPTION:This 7.5 mile hike features some of the most spectacular scenery and diverse habitats on the SHT. From the breathtaking views from the Section 13 cliffs\, to the primeval vistas of the Sawmill creek valley inhabited by otter\, beaver\, and moose\, to the remote aspen and cedar forests along the baptism river\, this trail has it all. This hike is moderate to difficult. Hikers should plan on meeting at the Lake County Road 6 trailhead at the posted start time. Participants will then board a shuttle bus to the hike starting point at the SHT Cook County Road 6 parking lot. Exact start and end time of the hike will be flexible depending on how long it takes to complete the shuttle process. \nRegister here

DESCRIPTION:In partnership with Unruly Women (unrulywomen.org)\, this project is reserved as an all-femme event\, which means all folks who are female identifying and/or femme leaning non-binary individuals. Come help SHTA complete a reroute on the Bean and Bear Loop. Activities will include using hand tools to repair and reroute the current trail. Expect about a 2 mile hike from trailhead to project. \nRegister here for August 8-10
