DESCRIPTION:Greet spring when as it arrives at the south end of the Superior Hiking Trail! Enjoy wildflowers\, explore the Mission Creek watershed\, and see some of the largest white pines on the entire trail. SUMMARY:Devil Track Tributary Abutments
DESCRIPTION:Join SHTA in building the abutments for the new Devil Track Tributary Bridge. Volunteers will learn how to layout and construct abutments for a bridge. Tasks may include site layout\, prep and excavation\, building concrete forms\, mixing and pouring concrete\, measuring\, marking and cutting lumber\, and constructing timber cribbing and steps. No experience necessary! All tools and training will be provided by SHTA. Expect to hike 0.5 miles from trailhead to project. SUMMARY:Split Rock or Bean & Bear Backpack Team
DESCRIPTION:Where this crew goes will depend on the status of the work preparing for the Split Rock Bridge. If more work is needed there\, that’s where the crew will head. If that work is done\, the crew will complete tread repairs on the Bean and Bear Loop. We will know by then end of July where you will go. This is a strenuous trip that is open to volunteers with at least one day of trail maintenance experience. Previous backpacking experience required. You must commit to all three days\, and you will need to provide all your own food and backpacking gear. In addition\, you will carry 5-10 lbs of SHTA-provided tools to the site.
