Choose your own distance and experience\, there are no expectations other than you spend quality time on the SHT. Invite old hiking buddies\, family members\, heck\, maybe a great first date?!  \nSTEP 2: Choose your Trailhead \nSign-up for a specific Trailhead to start your adventures. We want folks on EVERY section of the SHT. SUMMARY:County Road 6 Puncheon Replacement
DESCRIPTION:Help SHTA install 400′ of new puncheon (a structure similar to boardwalk)\, which will replace a dangerous and nonfunctional old puncheon. Volunteers will tear out old puncheon\, cut decking\, dig in sills\, and fasten the new puncheon together. There will be minor tread work and brushing. Don’t let new words scare you away. This will be a fun construction project\, and you’ll learn what a sill is if you didn’t already. No experience necessary! All tools and training will be provided by SHTA. The crew will complete work on the Split Rock River reroute to prepare for the installation of the Split Rock River Bridge. This is a strenuous trip that is open to volunteers with at least one day of trail maintenance experience. Previous backpacking experience required. You must commit to all three days\, and you will need to provide all your own food and backpacking gear. In addition\, you will carry 5-10 lbs of SHTA-provided tools to the site.
