DESCRIPTION:SHTA is rerouting the Trail at Pincushion to leave a ski trail and move to a year-round hiking trail between Pincushion Mountain Trailhead and the Devil Track River. You can be part of this process by helping us prep the future trail corridor! \nTrail Operations Director Tamer Ibrahim is seeking 8-10 volunteers to help remove (“swamp”) cut logs and brush from the future route of the Superior Hiking Trail near Pincushion Mountain. \nVolunteers will meet at 9AM on June 29th at Pincushion Mountain Trailhead in Grand Marais. DESCRIPTION:Cascade River State Park Wayside to Caribou Trail\, 11.3 miles \nSaturday\, June 29\, 10am\n\nEnjoy a challenging\, but beautiful 11.3-mile hike through the Sawtooth Mountains. This section has it all: waterfalls on the Cascade River\, big views of the big lake\, mature maple forests\, and a stunning reward at the end – a big view of Caribou Lake from White Sky Rock. Be sure to pack a lunch and extra water for this long day hike. A word of caution: this hike is not for beginners! Please be prepared for a longer\, more difficult trek on the Trail. This hike will be led by longtime SHTA volunteer Stew Carlson. Meet at Caribou Trail Trailhead. \nDirections to Caribou Trail Trailhead: At Hwy. 61 milepost 92.0\, turn left on Cook Co. Rd 4 (Caribou Trail) and go 4.1 miles to Co. Rd. 94. Turn right and take immediate left to trailhead parking lot.
