Backpack Trip – Otter Lake Road to Judge Magney State Park
Summary: Backpack this very remote section of the trail from Otter Lake Road to Judge Magney State Park. Enjoy great views and the highest point on the entire trail (although not at the same time). Walk through prime moose habitat and see Devil’s Kettle Falls. Due to the remoteness of this section, it is not recommended for beginner backpackers.

Day 1: Otter Lake Road Trailhead to Jackson Creek Pond Campsite, 7.0 miles
Optional side trip to the northern terminus of the SHT: The SHT officially ends at the 270 Degree Overlook, 1.3 miles from Otter Lake Road Trailhead, 2.6 miles roundtrip.
Day 2: Jackson Creek Pond Campsite to South Carlson Pond Campsite, 10.2 miles
Day 3: South Carlson Pond Campsite to Judge Magney State Park, 11.8 miles
