A Unique Volunteer Opportunity Awaits

The Superior Hiking Trail Association Board is seeking new Board members to replace those whose terms are expiring in May 2020. Our Board serves as the governing body of the Association and works closely with the executive director to accomplish our strategic goals. The Board meets in person four times annually, and each board member serves on a least one committee, typically meeting by telephone. Occasionally, we plan a non-working get-together to enjoy our friendships.
We are always interested in Board members who are avid trail users, including day hikers, trail runners or backpackers, who enjoy and support outdoor recreation and are energized to contribute. This year we are especially looking for expertise and/or interest in marketing and communications, finance, trail construction and engineering, and a legal understanding of land protection issues (i.e., permits, easements, and land-owner concerns).
If interested, we ask that you introduce yourself by sending a letter to the SHTA Governance Committee, no later than March 31st, 2020 at the two email addresses below and include the following information:
- Why you are interested in joining the Board.
- The talents, skills, and interest you bring to the Board.
- What you expect to get from serving on the Board.
- Any other information you’d like to share.
